Hiring Virtual Assistants for $5/hour?? No!

I read a post this morning from Kathie Thomas, who is a Virtual Assistant Coach and Trainer. I have gotten to know Kathie, and have come to highly respect her.

She was commenting on a group that is promoting hiring Virtual Assistants for $5/hr. She states that, while there are people who will do your typing or data entry for $5, they should not be considered Virtual Assistants. A Virtual Assistant is one who has the proper training to do a variety of specific tasks and, in many cases, is someone's "right arm." Their experience and assistance is worth far more than $5/hour.

Kathie wrote a letter to the President of the organization, stating her concerns. She received a reply, saying they would present her side of the situation.

I think this is a good example of standing up for what we believe to be true and right, and seeing a good outcome when we do. Kathie speaks from experience and is very knowledgeable in the field. VA's will benefit from what she did.

Thanks Laurie, and there's more! One of my VA members attended that meeting and the organisation promoted her and gave a really good rap about VAs - and they encouraged their members to 'shop locally' for services. So we were very pleased with that outcome. Thanks for sharing on it here!

That's great, Kathie. VA's work hard, and should be recognized for what they do.

Thanks for sharing that.
