2008 in Review

I have been reading other posts about regrets and good things that other business owners have experienced over the past year.  It prompted me to write my own year end post.

2008 was a mixed year.  My business did better than it had in 2007, with my monthly income getting more consistent.  That was a good thing:-)

My husband officially “retired” – I put that in quotes because it was in name only.  He’s still working at the same job as he had been, only as a contract employee now.  I believe that’s a good thing too.

There were some hard times, such as my dad’s passing and the economic issues we all faced.

So how do I feel as this year draws to a close?  I honestly feel that 2009 will be a good year!  I’m going to be trying some new things in my business, and that’s always exciting!  Not just “new things” but things that I believe will be good for my customers as well as myself.  I have always wanted to be more involved in my customers lives, walking with them through the process of starting a profitable business and seeing them reap the rewards.  I am working with my coach to come up with a plan to enable me to do that.

As you think back on this past year, how do you feel?  Did you reach your goals?  Specifically the goal of starting a home based business?  If not, make 2009 the year you take that step and do it!  I hope you’ll let me “walk with you” to see it happen!

  1. I LOVE this blog post… and look so forward to you stepping INTO your potential and a totally new 2009. What a gift it will be for you to make yourself personally available to your clients through the choosing and profitable launch of their business.

Truly… a gift… YOu are so knowledgeable and have so much to share. I wasn’t just throwing around the term, “human google”… that is really how resource- and knowledge – rich you are….

BUT – I do “caution” you – and anyone else reading this blog – the GROWTH of new HOME businesses in 2009 will be staggering. Some because they were “forced” into early retirement and must supplement their income. Some because their “brick and mortar” businesses failed due to high overhead. Some because they lost their jobs and need immediate (i.e. yesterday’s ) income. Some just for the “love of the [business]game”. :-) Regardless of their motives, you will be there to help steer them in the right direction… to hold up a mirror of their progress… to hold them accountable and provide support, encouragement and guidance. Indeed, 2009 will be a great year! To YOU

Thanks so much for stopping by and your encouraging comments, Michelle. I believe you’re right – that home businesses will really be taking off this next year. Many more coming into the home business community, but there’s room for everyone!

    Blessings to you,
    Laurie
