Today, I have a special treat for you. I have a guest who wrote an article just for us! Deb Lamb of Your Everything Services has shared some great motivational tips with us. Here’s the article…enjoy!
Six Motivational Tips for Work and Life and How You Can Make a Difference!
Whether you run a home-based business, freelance writing service or work in a corporate environment, you will find these tips very helpful. Here are some basic principles that I incorporate daily and have proven to make a huge difference in my life.
Try these motivational tips for work and life that will make you stop and think about how you can make a difference and be an example at work or home. Learn how to make everyday a great day by being that person who always has a smile on their face and that people are drawn to. Speak positively and have an attitude that exudes confidence and gratefulness in every situation!
We hope this also helps you and gives you a chance to focus on what you can offer to your employer, team and family.
- Contribution. What you give is most likely what you will receive in return. Yep, that biblical principal is strong and holds true even today! Seek out and determine how you can contribute to your team, work environment or family. Be engaging at work or home and that will lead you to experience higher levels of engagement at home and in your community. Whether you work virtually or on-site, be an active part and extend your brilliant contributions. It will come back to you!
- Responsibility and accountability. If it is to be it is up to we! Hold others accountable for their engagement while at the same time take responsibility for your own engagement. Encourage others to continue to contribute and elevate employee engagement and interaction. Step up to the plate and be accountable, responsible and set a good example.
- Master your personal energy. Your energy is your core raw material for engagement. Find ways to increase your levels of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual energy while also ensuring you take time for energy recovery. You must learn how to find ways to disengage from work to recharge and rejuvenate for the work ahead. So do something kind for yourself and have FUN! Participate in activities that that you know will de-stress you.
- Be strong! People who know what their strengths are use them on a daily basis and in the service of others. In doing so, people report higher levels of authentic happiness at work and home. What are your gifts or qualities you bring to your work and what activities do you engage in that strengthen you? Know your strengths while also knowing what strengthens you!
- Own your work. There is a great deal of truth to the statement: nobody washes a rented car. Some people make their marks while others sign their names (deep). Make your work a signature of who you are! Be authentic, honest, and ethical and leave an impression on others by showcasing the person you truly are!
- Get rid of the “if only”. Stop the “if only” thinking and do what you can with what you have wherever you are! Don’t postpone your engagement efforts waiting for the perfect opportunity. If only my company would do this, if only my supervisor would recognize me, if only I had a different job. Cease that negative thinking immediately and practice the great advice from the NCAA basketball coach, John Wooden: don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do!
Remember to focus on the positive things in your life and what you can contribute no matter what the situation is. Be the one that makes a difference and end the negative energy and feelings and you will see a tremendous change in your life and your employment. Always give specifically whatever it is you need!
So tell us, what are some of your daily struggles with trying to remain positive and exuding confidence? Is it something you struggle with daily? Do you have other tips you would like to see added to this post? Please share your thoughts and input as we love to hear from you and are always seeking ways to help others.
Go out and “make it a great day”! Learn how to make everyday a great day by being that person who always has a smile on their face and that people are drawn to.

This is a great article. Thanks to both of you for posting it. I do have to respectfully disagree with the first point however. I’ve talked to many a giver who has experienced the same thing as I have. If you give and give and give just know that you will NOT get back the same amount in kind. If you set your self up for that expectation, you will be greatly disappointed. I am an encourager and I love to give people all I can. I spend a long time researching before a podcast or in order to write an article. Most of what I do is a ministry and very little of it is paid for. I do find that most people I give to do NOT thank me for giving it and I do NOT get the kindnesses returned to me that I give out. It can make a giver /contributor wearing in doing good as the Bible says. I think that is why God put that in there. He asks us to do the right thing, to give, to contribute our gifts but He doesn’t say we will get in return what we give out. Because of this, I encourage you to search for the givers and thank them for their contributions. If you can do for them something you have not thought to do, please do! LOL The power of thank you and doing for a giver can help him to be less weary in doing good.
Thanks for your comment, JoJo. I have experienced the same things you are talking about. I believe we need to give in order to give, and we may or may not see a return on our giving in this life. But we also need to know that God sees our giving and will reward us openly – whether it be here or in eternity.
Hi JoJo and Laurie!
I have to agree with you as well. Sometimes it would be nice just to hear a simple, “thank you!” However, we know we may not always get that and we have to continue to forgive, trust and know that we are trying and doing the right thing.
As Laurie mentioned, we will be rewarded for it either here on earth or in eternity!
Thanks for your comment!
