Applying God’s Word to Your Business

“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do the things which I say?  Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like; He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock.  And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.” Luke 6:46 – 48

Today, I would like to look at this passage of Scripture in relation to running a business.

We are told in this passage that by doing what God says in His Word we are building a strong foundation.  I believe this applies to our business as well as to the rest of our lives.  It is not enough to read God’s Word – we need to apply it to every area of our lives and business.  When we know what God says and do it,  we are building a business on a strong foundation.   And a business needs a strong foundation to survive.

We are given so many principles in the Bible of how we should be living and acting.  One example is what we have been talking abut the last couple of weeks in I Corinthians 13.  It is clearly stated how we are to treat others, which does not only apply to our families and fellow Christians, but to those we have contact with through our business.  Take some time to look through the past posts of Bible verses for business for more examples.

God’s Word has the principles we are to build our business on.  If we only follow the latest trend or fad, we are in danger of having a shaky business.  How many times have you seen the latest and greatest trend in Internet Marketing?  Has it really helped your business to grow?  Many times, the answer is no.  But if you are building your business on what God’s Word says, you will have a business that cannot be shaken.  When the winds of a bad economy hit or a new competitive business arises, you can keep on doing what you have always been doing and continue moving forward.    And people will know they can trust you because you have built a reputation that can be respected.

Thank you Laurie! I find I am always having to seek God in my business or I overstep what He has planned for me.
