Become a Life Coach
Sep 22nd, 2008 by Laurie Neumann
Let’s talk about another business model that’s popular today. Become a life coach. Life coaches help people in all areas of life - their careers, relationships, self-image, getting in shape or goal setting. The goal with life coaching is to help someone improve their life or get “unstuck” in a certain situation.
According to CNN.com, “Life coaches are part of a growing profession. The International Coach Federation (ICF) says it has more than 12,000 members worldwide, or double the amount just five years ago. In a survey commissioned by the ICF last year, 16 percent said their coaching specialty is “life vision and enhancement,” the third most popular area behind executive and leadership coaching.”
You would need to have training in this profession, and most likely, certification. This will take an investment to time and money to become prepared. But you wouldn’t choose a life coach who wasn’t, would you?
If you do a search on Google for life coach training, you will be given many choices. Take time and read through the sites, talk to the people behind the sites, and make a determination on which training is best for you. There are many options you can do from home.
There are really some great resources out there for becoming a life coach (and some people are also calling themselves Spiritual Life Coaches now too) and I’d highly recommend finding information about the Life Coaches Institutes. That’s where I got my training.
It seems like this really is an industry that is taking off like crazy. I enjoy reading Dan Miller’s books on 48 days to the work you love as well as no more monday’s and it seems that many people who read that end up as life coaches. Seems like an interesting profession.
Thank you both for your comments. I haven’t heard of that book - I may have to check it out!
I did Biblical Coaching training and really want to pursue this more myself. I really want to be able to help others move forward, past their obstacles and be able to reach their goals.
