Bible Verses for Business – Conduct
Jul 26th, 2010 by Laurie Neumann
“Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ…” Philippians 1:27
This verse seems to sum it all up. As we conduct ourselves in our businesses, everything we do must be worthy of the gospel of Christ. In others words, we should always be a good witness to anyone we are dealing with – brothers and sisters in Christ, as well as unbelievers.
Let’s look at some of the dealings we have when we have a business.
- Dealing with customers
- If we have employees, how do we treat them?
- Do we set fair prices?
- When we are writing a blog post, an eBook, a newsletter, etc., do we do our very best? “And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men.” Colossians 3:23
- Are we self-serving or others-serving?
- When we are using the social networks, is our speech something that glorifies God?
- Do we use our time wisely, or do we fritter it away on facebook and other social networks?
Our conduct should always represent God and how He would deal with others. We are to honor Him with the way we do business.

Worthy of the Gospel … now that’s a high calling. What a difference it makes in our lives we start seeing our everyday tasks in light of this verse. I see too many Christians not give their best efforts when it’s “just something for the church” or “it’s just a giveaway so don’t spend much time on it.”
God calls for us to give our very best. Sometimes I think we just forget who we’re really working for in our jobs, businesses, and volunteer work.
Great comment, Brad. You are so right – we can tend to forget why we are doing what we are doing. I love Colossians 3:23 – we need to do everything with this verse as our guide. Even the laundry:-)
