Bible Verses for Business

Well, I took last week off from posting on my blog.  I needed to regroup:-)  Do you ever feel that way?

As I prayed about what to offer next, I felt like I should give Bible verses that you can use in your business.   After all, as Chrisitan entrepreneurs, our business should be based on God’s Word.  So, each Monday, for the next several weeks, I”ll be sharing a Bible verse that relates to work or business.

Today’s verse comes from Genesis.  Why not start at the beginning?

Genesis 2:15 “Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.:

Tending it and keeping it – that sounds like work to me.  God gave Adam work to do, so, that says to me, that work is GOOD.  So, why do so many of these home business ads boast of “no work?”  You can sit on the beach and earn an income.  No thanks.

Now, I am all for flexibility and being able to go on vacations when we want to.  But I would not want something that didn’t require anything of me.  I want to work because I believe it is a good thing.  And, apparently, God does too:-)

So, when you are looking for a home based opportunity, I would recommend staying away from the ones that promise riches for no work.  Embrace work – just find something that you can really enjoy and use the gifts and skills that God has given you.

Enjoy your week!

    Laurie,

Welcome back. I’ve missed your postings.

Well, for me, the idea of sitting on the beach sounds rather boring. God put Adam to work right away, didn’t he? It wasn’t after The Fall, but before. It is part of God’s design for us to work.

Many people confuse what happened after The Fall. God did not curse work, He cursed the ground.

    Hi Brad,

Thank you – it’s nice to be missed!

I was thinking about that when I was writing the post, but didn’t note it, so I”m glad you mentioned it. Yes, Adam was given work to do before the Fall – so God so it as a good thing. That should be good enough for us:-)

I could take a day at the beach right about now, but that would be enough.

    Thanks for your comment.

  4. Hi Laurie,
    I whole-heartily agree!
The Bible declares”….that if any would not work, neither should he eat(2 Thessalonians 3:10b).

    Have Holy Ghost filled day!
    Richard
