Since we had our freebie on Wednesday this week, today we’ll talk about a home business opportunity you may want to pursue.
Do you enjoy making websites? Do you have a basic knowledge of html and css? If you can answer yes to these questions, read on.
Now you can take the html sites you can create and covert them to WordPress sites. Why would you want to do that? Two main reasons.
- WordPress sites are more interactive than html sites. People can leave comments and communicate with you right there on your site if you choose that.
- If you want to start a business creating websites for others, there is usually the challenge of how they maintain/add/change their site once it is made. Most people are not too happy with the idea of continuing to pay a web designer to maintain their site. But with WordPress, they can easily keep it up themselves – a great selling point!
Web design is a much needed service today, and if you are technically inclined, this could be a great way for you to begin a business.
To learn how to convert your html sites to WordPress sites, there is a great course that my husband is currently taking and he LOVES it! It will take you through the process plus the creator of the course (Lynette Chandler) is there to answer any questions you have.

My Art of Eloquence site has a WYSIWYG software on it so I can update it myself because I am an HTML Illiterate. Even I was able to install a WordPress blog into it. Later on, I created a whole new WordPress site, but I was wondering if I could add product pages and a shopping cart. FortheLoveofPurple.com is about to have some eBooks that I wanted to sell. Do you know a tutorial that would help me add an inexpensive shopping cart that would work with my site?
Hi JoJo,
I’m sorry but I don’t really know much about that. You apparently don’t want to use Paypal?
I know Mal’s cart is a free one and I think they have a forum on their site where you could probably get some help.
I also know someone who uses EJunkie, but not sure how easy it is to get it set up.
Sorry I can’t be of more help.
