Deadlines Can Be Your Friend!
Apr 6th, 2009 by Laurie Neumann
Well, another Monday is upon us, and here we go with another tip to stay motivated.
Set deadlines for yourself! Running our own business is great, because we are the boss. But, we can’t let that mean that things get done whenever they get done. Many of us work better when there is a deadline to meet; it can be changed if necessary, but if there is no “real” date set (if you’re doing work for a client, etc.) when something needs to be done, it may be helpful to set your own due date. It gives you something to work toward.
I know, for myself, having a coach has helped this because I am reporting to her weekly what I finished. I also know what I want to report, and work toward that end.
If everything is left open-ended, very few of us will be as productive as if there are end dates attached to our projects.
Of course, working at our own business allows us to adjust those dates if need be. But go ahead and set them and try your best to meet them. I think that will help you move forward and accomplish more!
This can also be helpful when you are just starting up a business. Set deadlines for tasks that will get you on your way to setting up your business, like choosing a niche, researching the niche, setting up business online, etc.
Be on your way to increased productivity!

So true and thanks for the reminder. You know I have a few new eBooks I am working on that I didn’t have exact deadlines for but I will be setting them today! I don’t work well unless I have a target deadline. Thanks for the kick in the pants, Laurie!!
Anytime, JoJo!
