Do You Have Realistic Goals?

Well, we’re back for some more motivation.  Today, I’d like to discuss setting goals – realistic goals.  We can all set goals, but if they are too unattainable or too many, it will only discourage us.  Our goals should be reachable.  So, for an example, let’s say you have a whole list of things you need to get done in your business this week.  Take the top five – the ones that really need to be done THIS week, and make those your goals.  Then, if you have time, after you have accomplised the five, you can go on and tackle additional items on your list.

The idea is that, if you are continuously not making your goals, you tend to get discouraged or overwhelmed.  Both are bad for keeping motivation up.  If you set realistic goals, and then accomplish more, you are motivated and feel good about what you’ve accomplished.

So, take a realistic approach.  Set goals and accomplish them.  Everything else that gets done is a bonus.   Stay motivated!

Good reminder! I figured this out a while back but I always tend toward the manic. I used to think it was realistic to have a list of 12 things on my To Do List that each took 4 hours. I guess I wasn’t very good at math! ROFL

I know what you mean, JoJo. But really, if you always have an unfinished list, it can get discouraging. It may be a “subtle” feeling of failure.
