Ever think of becoming a Virtual Assistant?
Jul 25th, 2008 by Laurie Neumann
Hi,
I’d like to do a short series (2-3 posts) on becoming a Virtual Assistant. I chose this because it’s a popular field today that’s in high demand, especially among online business owners.
Many business owners hire certain aspects of their job out to Virtual Assistants (VA’s). VA’s can be lifesavers, taking on tasks that the entrepreneur just doesnt’t have time to do, or doesn’t know how to do, or doesn’t like to do.
I have contact with other people’s VA’s and, let me tell you, they really can make a difference. They answer emails for business owners and do problem shooting. They can make the business owner look good, if they answer emails in a timely manner and are friendly and helpful. I know they take a big strain off the business owner, taking some of the more routine tasks off their hands.
What exactly is a Virtual Assistant and what do they do?
According to Wikipedia, a Virtual Assistant is” an independent contractor , providing administrative, technical, or sometimes creative assistance to clients.” Your can work for someone in your own city, or for someone half way around the globe.
What duties does a Virtual Assistant perform?
Some of them may include:
Customer Service – taking/making phone calls and answering emails
- Setting up appointments
- Coordinating meetings
- Creating the company’s newsletter
- Website design
- Light bookkeeping
- Marketing services
- Specific project management
- Making travel arrangements
Next time I’ll give you a resource if you’re a Christian wanting to provide Virtual Assistant services to other Christians.
So good to see your post. Isn’t being a virtual assistant the best. What is really great is that as more and more media writes about us, more businesses seek us out. In fact, this month VAs were mentioned in Good Housekeeping Magazine. I thought that was awesome!
Look forward to seeing your blog series!
