Home Data Entry Employment? What’s the Scoop?
Aug 6th, 2008 by Laurie Neumann
Hi,
I come across many people who are looking for home data entry employment. Unfortunately, I have to discourage them from that because of how many scams there are out there in that field.
What I do recommend to them, if they are a good typist, is to consider starting a Work from Home Transcription business. That would involve transcribing audio/video recordings to typed text.
There are SO many people today using audio/video presentations. Everytime I turn around I am getting another email about a call (teleseminar) being held for some reason or another. Those calls are recorded and will need transcribing.
I think if you have good typing skills, there is a lot of work out there. Of course, you need to be willing to look for it and promote yourself and be persistent. This is a business that involves you getting clients and building your own business. Once you get a few clients, if your work is good, you should be able to get some referrals from them. Word of mouth works great in this.
I would suggest freqenting a couple good forums and getting to know the business owners there. Observe who talks about doing audios and teleseminars. Approach them in a non-spammy way and offer your services. Or make it known in the forum what you do, and you may find people coming to you.
You can even “niche” your service and target a specific group of business owners. Such as pet website owners. Then you can join forums targeting to pet sites. If you have an interest or knowledge in a particular area, pursue that.
Don’t confuse this with Medical Transcription. What I am talking about here is general transcribing - no medical knowledge needed.
Offering Transciption services is a good alternative to looking for data entry work at home. It is a legitimate way to earn money, and by starting and running your business, you won’t get involved in the scams.
Take a look at the guide below that outlines how to get a Transcription Business started.
Have a great week!
