Home Staging Business

Let’s talk about “H” – Home Staging. Home Staging is the process of doing some improvements to make a house ready to sell. It has been said that staged homes sell faster and for a higher price. So people are sometimes happy to pay someone to make some suggestions/improvements because they believe they will see a higher profit from the sale of the house.

This can be anything from rearranging the furniture and other items to having less wall hangings and decluttering the rooms. It helps sell the space of the home.

Now, obviously you can’t do this all from your home, but some of the planning, setting up appointments, etc. can be done from home. As your business grows, you can employ helpers who can do some of the actual physical work. So, if you don’t mind having a business that is part home, part out of the home, this could be a really interesting one.

I’ve got to tell you that I used to want to go into Interior Design. I took a correspondence course in it, and have always loved decorating. Although my life took a different path, this still sounds like fun to me!

The best way to find clients is to connect with realtors. Having a home staged would make their job easier so they may be happy to work with you.

I did some looking on Google for some resources for you. You would need some training in this to do it as a business. You can take a look at StagedHomes.com and Decorate-Redecorate.com.

There is also a great video showing the whole staging process at Home Staging Video.

Ok, now do me favor. If any of you pursue this, can you write me and let me know how it goes? I’d love to hear about your experiences. Thank you!
