Let Go and Let God

here-for-a-reason I have been reading the book, “You’re Here for a Reason” by Marnie Pehrson.  The book is divided up into 50 lessons.  Today I was reading lesson 32 which was about “Let Go and Let God.”

One thing that stood out to me was that while going through a wilderness, it can be used to build our faith and teach us to trust God more.

As it was with the Israelites.  They were given food for one day at a time.  They had to trust God that it would be there tomorrow and the day after that…

They were told not to collect more than food for one day (except on the day before the Sabbath.)  They only had to take care of that day’s “worries” or needs and leave tomorrow to God.

How many times do we get stuck because we are trying to plan ahead and work everything out for the future?  Let’s take starting a business (funny I should think of that!)  Are you stuck because you want to know how it will go, etc.?  Now, I am all for planning, but sometimes our planning stops us in our tracks because we can’t see how it will all turn out.

Matthew 6:34 says “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things.  Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

We need to do what we can today and leave tomorrow – next week – and next year to God.   What can you do today to start a business or to move ahead in another area?

    Laurie,

I’ve always loved that say, “let go and let God.” There’s so much wisdom in those 5 words, isn’t there? Today, on Thanksgiving, I am grateful that He is always there to take control if we will let him.

    Thanks for the reminder!

your wisdom and advice in this matter is as timely as ever. I am deeply focused in the “living in God today”, no worries, no “what’s going to happen tomorrow”. Learning to manage the day:)

    Brad and Cheryl,
Thank you for your comments. This has never been an easy thing to do, but I know it’s where we find the peace we long for.
