Medical Transcription at Home
Aug 8th, 2008 by Laurie Neumann
Hi there,
Last time we talked about doing transcription at home (general transcription.) Today, I wanted to address doing Medical Transcription at home.
This can be a way to make a good, steady income at home. Medical Transcription is the process of transcribing health professional’s dictations into typed text.
You do need training in medical terminology to be able to do this. If you don’t have this background already, you can get it from the comfort of your own home with online courses or you can take some courses at a community college. Either way, you can be ready to get started in building a business in less than a year.
You’ll need some equipment, such as a computer, a printer, a transcriber and some reference books. All these can be bought used if necessary. You should also have some computer programs such as a medical spellchecker and a word expander utility to cut down on the amount of actual typing you have to do.
If you’d like to take Medical Transcription online courses, check out Virtual Learning Center.
If you have the background and just want to get started setting up your own business at home, check out the guide at the link below. It’s written by someone who’s run her own medical transcription business from home since 1994. Cut your learning curve and learn from someone who has already done it.
Enjoy your weekend!
