Meet Kay Green!
Jan 21st, 2009 by Laurie Neumann
Today, I am privileged to talk with Kay Green of My Precious Kid. Kay is a busy lady, but always so willing to help out others. Read below about the niche she has carved for herself (with God’s leading).
- Can you tell us what business you are in?
I have an online store and now retail store for Child Safety Products & Safe Baby Gear. We carry over 100 products for Child safety, home safety, safety education, baby gear, baby sleep, baby feeding, shopping cart covers, sleep positioners, Radian Car Seat and several personalized kids products. www.MyPreciousKid.com
2. How long have you been doing your business?
Since May 2001
3. How many hours a week do you usually work?
40+, 9-4 each day at the store plus work at home too
4. Tell us what an average work day is like for you.
Get to the store at 9 am. My 2 employees do all the order fulfillment. I handle ordering products, marketing, website, wholesale vendor communication, and more. I usually leave at 4 pm and go pick up my daughter from school. In the evening I may work at home depending on the need.
5. How long did it take your business to become profitable?
About 1 yr. Since then we have grown steadily, doubled each of the last 3 years,.
6. What is the best piece of advice or tip you could give someone who wants to get started in the same type of business you’re in?
Ask God to lead you every single day in your business. Find your niche, what you do best and do it to the best of your ability. Do not try to b e everything to everyone. Ask for God’s blessing every day.
7. Anything additional you’d like to share?
With God’s help I went from 1 product and me to over 100 products and 3 employees in 7 years. God has blessed it. Without God’s help I would not be where I am in business.
I have 3 adult kids, one 8 yr old daughter (adopted at birth), one granddaughter almost 2, and grand twins due in June. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 30 years.
My thanks to Kay for taking time out of her busy schedule to share with us!
Kay and Laurie,
this is incredible growth and sounds like a fun way to raise children also. While we have none at home, we have grandchildren we would love to help and leave an heiritage to. We also know if God be for us who can be against us and He is our remarkable guide.
We support Kay from Us at dt-earth.com.
Sincerely,
Joyce & Cliff Guy
Hi Joyce,
Thanks for stopping by my blog. Yes, Kay has seen incredible success, and she is such a giving person. She helped me way back when I knew nothing about the whole website building process and what makes it work. (thanks again Kay:-)
I am SO excited about your site and business! May God bless you and Cliff abundantly.
Laurie
