Today, we are interviewing Tricia Gardner of Time Saver VA. Tricia is giving us a real look into her day as a Virtual Assistant.
1. Can you tell us what business you are in?
I am a Virutal Assistant
2.. How long have you been doing your business?
Since January 1, 2008
3. How many hours a week do you usually work?
20-30 hours a week
4. Tell us what an average work day is like for you.
My average work day starts early in the morning while everyone is still sleeping. I get some client work done and then go round the kids up for school. Once the kids are off to school I get ready and dress head to toe even
though I don’t leave my house. It makes it feel more like a real job.
I then do clerical work, 1 shopping cart work, email management. I stop at 11 for lunch and free time on the computer. I start back up at 1 and work until my kids get off the bus at 4:30. There are times when I finish things up but most of the time I just enjoy my kids once they are home from school.
5. How long did it take your business to become profitable?
8-12 months
6. What is the best piece of advice or tip you could give someone who wants to get started in the same type of business you’re in?
Set work hours and stick to them. If not, you will find out that you put in way more hours then if you went outside the home and worked.
Thanks so much for sharing with us, Tricia!

I agree with her number 6! I am trying to do so many things that I seem to always be working. Just the last few days I decided to end work when my dh comes home because I am so tired these days that I just couldn’t keep going. I do have certain things that are nonnegotiable that I do during the day so I do have some sort of schedule. However I was mostly working around the clock until I just couldn’t handle it the past few days due to pain and fatigue.
