Our tip for keeping motivated today is to break your tasks up into smaller, doable chunks. If you want to start a business, that can seem pretty overwhelming. But if you break it into:
- Choosing a name and registering a domain name
- Sign up for web hosting
- Create a website or have it done for you
- When creating a website, take each page individually – have a different purpose for every page on your site. Maybe the purpose of one page is to have people sign up for your newsletter, another page may have an article with a link at the bottom to an affiliate product. Each page should have its own purpose with a call to action (what you actually want your visitor to do on that page.)
- Get the word out about your business, aka Market it. This is another topic that should be broken down into doable chunks.
When you divide your larger project into smaller size tasks, it takes the “overwhelmingness” out of it. It gives you steps to do each day. Pretty soon you’ll see that you are well on your way to completing your project!

This is such good advice. I do that to myself at times. My “To Do” list is sometimes filled with big things that I just To Don’t! Even something as simple as write a book really has many parts to it. I do work better when I have smaller goals. One big one for me is finding a workable title. I can’t seem to write without a good title. So it’s overwhelming to think about writing the entire book. I guess I should put time aside to get a title first then an outline, then each chapter or something. Thanks Laurie!! That helps a great deal!
Great tip. I find myself feeling overwhelmed a lot when it comes to my to do list(s). Something that seems simple on the to do list can have several parts to the project. So your tip will really come in handy from here on out.
Hi Tishia,
You know, if I look at the whole project, I get stuck, not knowing what to do. But if I have a manageable task, I can get it do much easier.
Thanks for stopping by:-)
