My Home Business Journey – Pt. 6

As I was thinking about what to write for this post, I realized that I need to tell you that it is very important to choose a business you really believe in and care about.  Why?  Because it’s not a steady stream of sales and compliments!  There can be many dry times.  And sometimes, no matter how much good information you give away to people, they still won’t buy something.  They think everything should be free.  I would like to ask those people, if when they have a business, they will think it’s wrong to charge money for their product.  In essence, that is what they are saying to me and to others.

But then there are the people who thank you, who write and say that an article you just wrote really spoke to them, or that a product they purchased was really what they were looking for, and that makes it worth it.

Explore your interests, passions, skills and experience, and make a list of the businesses that could be created utilizing at least some of them.  Choose one that has profit potential (do your research) and one that you believe in enough to stay in it for the long haul.

I have done that.  I have always believed in being there for your family and establishing strong family relationships.  Sometimes that  takes flexibility in the hours you work.  I also worked for a major grocery chain in New York (now in other states too) and worked in their Personnel Dept., interviewing job seekers and making recommendations to the head of Personnel on who to hire.  So, encouraging others to work from home and be able to have the flexibility to be there for their family, ministry, etc. was a natural fit.  I offer coaching to help others choose a home business that will fit with their experience and interests, as well as check for profit potential, and that fits in with my past job experience.

It wasn’t exactly a “revelation” from God, I just followed along the path He was leading me on and ended up here.  And I”m so glad to be here!

Great insights. I am in nearly the same boat it seems and would just send encouragement your way. It is sometimes difficult, but ultimately quite rewarding.
