Let’s continue talking about the Proverbs 31 woman. As I was looking at it, verse 17 stood out. “She girds herself with strength, and strengthens her arms.” And verse 18 “…And her lamp does not go out by night.”
We see from these two verses that the Proverbs 31 woman was a hard worker. She was not afraid of work and she didn’t shy away from it. She embraced work as a part of her life, and I don’t get the impression she complained about it:-)
When we work and run a business, we have to expect to work hard. And that is certainly not a bad thing. That is one of the reasons I shudder at all the ads I see that portray that you can make a lot of money with hardly any work. Who wants that? Seriously, I love to work! Of course, I love what I do and that is why I think it is so important to choose a business that fits who you are – your interests, passions, skills and abilities. It makes me think of the quote that goes something like this – Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
- Confucius
So, we can be like the Proverbs 31 woman and embrace our work . Work hard, but , at the same time, keep your priorities straight. Your relationship with God needs to be first, then your family, then your work. Do you agree?

Very true. If you love what you do, it doesn’t feel like work. Now, if I can only get someone who loves housework! LOL
I know what you mean, JoJo!
Good morning,
I love to work, too. I am having some trouble getting used to doing most of my work online, but am so blessed that the Lord has granted me the opportunity. I love writing and am hoping to develop that further this year and I am starting to see progress with my two online decorating stores. I love your blog, Laurie. You always keep me inspired!
Hugs from WV,
Charlotte
Hi Charlotte,
Thanks for your comment – I really appreciate your kind words. I’m so happy to hear about the doors the Lord has opened up for you!
Blessings to you.
Laurie,
We were all fearfully and wonderfully made to fulfill a specific purpose of God’s perfect will. It amazes me how many Christians have bought into this leisurely retirement idea. The most fulfilling and rewarding time in our lives are those when we are in harmony with God’s plan for us. Christ says His yoke for us is easy and His burden for us is light. I think there may be some disappointed Christians that find out they have work to do in heaven rather than an eternal vacation.

God will surely bless our hard work. Reading all through the book of Proverbs we are warned numerous times about the consequences of being a sluggard.
As women in business, I fear that our biggest problem might be keeping our priorities in order. It’s easy to go overboard and work too much, thus defeating the opportunity that our home business allows us to spend more time with our family.
Great comment, Brad. I agree with you that we are most fulfilled when we are walking in God’s plan.
Rhonda,
I think you’re right. Many home business owners started their business so they could have more time with their family, only to find that their business has kind of taken over their lives. That is a danger in doing something you love – you may have to really try to keep it in the right place. But it’s worth it.
