Well, here we are at the end of our Twelve Days of Marketing. I have really enjoyed writing this series, and I hope you’ve enjoyed it (and learned something.)
Today, I”d like to talk about developing YOUR point of view on what you do. NOT what others in your field say – but what is YOUR PHILOSOPHY on what you do?
How do you develop your point of view? Here’s some things that might help.
- Take note of how other experts express their point of view. You don’t have to agree with it or even be in the same niche – just notice how their express themselves.
- Get to know the points of view of others who are in your field. See what they have to say, and notice how your opinions and viewpoints are similar and different from theirs. This will help you develop your own.
- Create a position statement. Write your answers to the following:
- What is your philosophy about what you offer?
- Why is it needed?
- Why is it different from what others offer?
- Why do you do things the way you do?
- What do you believe about the needs of your clients and about how you can help them with what you offer?
- What are problems or needs that your service/product addresses?
- How can you solve these problems/concerns with your service/product?
Your point of view has to be unique to you. Answering these questions will help you formulate it. Your point of view will let others know how you feel about what you do, which, in turn, will help them get to know and trust you. People like to know something about the person behind the product, and letting them know your point of view will do just that.
There’s a lot more you can do to develop your point of view, but you’ll have to sign up for the marketing course to find out:-)
