What’s Your Vision?

Vision check.   What was your vision for your home based business?  What need did you hope it would fulfill when you started it?  Is it doing that?

It’s a good idea from time to time to take a vision check and determine if you are on track with your original vision for your business.

When I started my business, I wanted to help others find legitimate home based businesses.   I had gone through the process of looking for a business shortly before, and it was confusing!  So, I thought I’d like to help others by wading through some of the information for them and giving them legitimate options.   I also wanted to offer a place where people could come and TRUST the resources and information they find there.

As I think about this, I do believe my business if fulfilling this vision.  We’d all like to do MORE.   I’d like to help more people and have more great resources and opportunities.  But all in time…

Maybe your business has taken a different turn than what you first intended.   Are you happy with the direction it has taken?  Or do you need to get back to your original vision and purpose?

Take a little time to think about this.  Sometimes all it takes is becoming aware that we have gotten off course to help us change things.  And above all, PRAY and ask God if He is happy with the direction things are going.  He’ll let you know:-)

That’s what I did last year. My original intent was just to fill a need fora local homeschool family. I wrote my first book really just for her. I taught the class for her. I had no intention of making it a business, but before my book was back from the printer, my class was full and I had parents waiting on my doorstep to buy it! We prayed and God directed our family to this business.

That was 7 years ago and over the years Art of Eloquence has been told to fill more needs. Our first book was for teens but we heard from parents of younger kids that they wanted something too. Then we heard needs that adults had, those in business, in sharing their faith and leadership. Well it kept growing and growing. I began giving more and more away for free because God originally told me to fill a need in the internet community. So I created an annual online event.

However, last year I began going over God’s head so to speak and doing more and more free events and free gifts until I had no time left to really run the business. I realized that God’s vision for Art of Eloquence was not in line with what we had created in 2009 so I cut down on the number of events and projects I was doing.

It’s wonderfully freeing to have time to do what God really wants me to do. I did my final podcast on Dec. 31st and just last night I finished redesigning my website! Moving on to some other projects He has for me this year.
