WEB CONTENT WRITING

If you have been around the web for any length of time, you have probably heard how important content writing is to your business.  Content is simply text that is written for your website, blog, newsletter, etc.    But what works on the internet?  Is web content writing the same as any type of writing?

First, it is very important to produce fresh, updated  content for a website.  It keeps people coming back and gives you a higher place in the search engines.

Write simply - be descriptive, but do not write over people's heads.  If they do not understand what you are trying to say, they will not stick around to finish reading.

Use easy to read fonts, a good size (too small is hard to read, too large seems overdone.)  Choose colors that will not irritate or confuse people.

Write your content in a way that is direct and to the point.   Use bullets, images, and headlines and sub-headlines so people who just want to scan the page can pick out the important points.

Write web content in small paragraphs, and have some white space to make it easier on the eyes to read.

Use your keywords naturally, do not overload your content with them. 

Web Content writing should sound like you are talking directly to your visitor.    Write in a conversational style and avoid using fancy wording.

Make sure you proofread or have someone else check over your writing.  There is nothing that screams "unprofessional" like misspelled words and

poor grammar.  It is a good practice to read your writing aloud to determine if it makes sense and reads smoothly.

Make sure at the end of your writing, you include a call to action, to direct the reader to do what you would like them to do.

Web Content writing does not have to be scary or burdensome.  Have fun with it and write like you are writing to your ideal customer.
