Niche Marketing
Niche marketing explained, is the process of marketing to a specific group of people that have a particular interest in an area. Such as marketing to golfers, homeschoolers, scrapbookers, etc. There will be a select group of people who are interested in these topics. Your job in niche marketing, is to identify who you are marketing to and to find out the best ways to reach them.
As a business owner, you need to know how to reach your target market. Once you have done your research to ensure that there is a market interested in what you have to offer, there are some things you can do to distinguish yourself from your competitors.
Check out some other websites that sell similar products. See what they offer and how they do it. Try using some creativity to expand on what they’ve done, or to do it a little differently. It might just be adding an extra feature to your website that your visitors would appreciate. Something to keep them coming back to YOU.
Visit business related forums that will have entrepreneurs who can give you some advice on what has worked for them. Forums are also a great place to make contacts and gain customers and joint venture partners.
When you are marketing to a specific niche group, having as much knowledge as possible about that group is key. Find out who your market is and where they hang out. Find out their concerns and problems. Offer them the solution.
When promotion your products/services, you will want to promote them on your website. But how about other places like ebay? When you have found the right niche, expand to increase your profits.
Are there services that would complement your product? Could you offer a service like coaching, web hosting or web design to benefit your customer even more and, at the same time, increase your profits? You have to determine what makes sense to the niche you are in.
Once you have become established in your niche and your product is selling, increase the field. Is there another product you could offer to this same niche group that they would be interested in? Or, is there another niche group, that with a little adjusting, that you could sell your product to? For example, you may be selling an information product about training your beagle. With some research and tweaking of the product, could you sell it to other dog breed owners, such as a product about training your terrier? Of course, you would need to do your research, and take into consideration any temperament or other differences between the breeds. But you get the idea.
Niche marketing can be highly profitable. Do your research and get started in a niche that has profit potential. I think you’ll really enjoy it!
