With my mother struggling with multiple Shopping centers and finding her escape spots from the hustle and bustle, not even to find peace anymore, my kitchen doubled as a retreat. I had a regular meal time next to the kitchen sink, also serving as a “kitchen table”, a place for my mom, my brother and me to gather and have breakfast. At the holidays, we celebrated with cookies and milk and a hot cocoa in the adjoining dining room.
After years of wear and tear, my kitchen cabinets have come to a point, that I need to consider replacing them due to a lack of organization in the kitchen.
As the configuration has changed over the years, with the last home renovation about 7 years ago, I was faced with the same challenge. I had no choice, once the kitchen was remodeled to include the dining table in the center.
My kitchen cabinets were so full of pots & pans, food storage, drinking & dining gear. Suffice it to say, having my kitchen cabinets remodeled to accommodate my everyday life conditions was not in the budget.
Finding a contractor that could succeed with the layout and cabinets was not the only problem I was working with. When I got through my kitchen remodel, the cabinets I purchased to best suit my new kitchen layout was not the right size to fit in the newly designed kitchen.
This was not a problem for my contractor who worked with me on contractor deals, been the best contractor the contractor the contractor for a number of years. What else am I thinking? Where did this all start?
It started with my Kitchen Cabinets. My kitchen cupboards are small and I have to store my food in the cupboards, which makes them full of condiments.
Now, every time I open a cabinet to find a ingredient I must use the compacted citrus rinds that I previously stored, and those all go back to the cupboards, never to be seen again. Now my cupboards are full of appliances, dishes and all other items again, every time I open a cabinet.
My wife purchased a Kitchen Cart to clear some counter space on the kitchen counter, right in the same spot on the kitchen counter where she used to make coffee, a mixer, a toaster, a waffle maker, a fryer, etc. She now has discovered a new spot to use it – “The Spot”.
The “The Spot” in question is where we set the food. She places a bowl from out of the kitchen across the counter and spreads some sugar and spread on it. Here comes the chicken wing fryer out of hiding and meets her while she prepares breakfast for the entire family. When we arrive from work we all sit at a small island and eat breakfast together. It provides a great area for both of us to spend time together, as well as, “What can you cook today?” ” Sorry, we only have tonight for dinner“, says the chicken.
There was no progression from any of this. Now I am a “Kitchen Original”. What are the changes I should make? Well, I have always liked the look and feel of cabinets and have always had them remodeled. So, why not move the Five-Solat gleaning kitchen cabinets into my new location with updated new appliances and cabinetry?

- 3 lcels with a deck (the “L” shaped, self contained rolling dish cart as the pilot),
- 3Windsor glass coffee urn in a corner for extra storage in matching kitchen cabinetry,
- 3 ceiling lamps with a pendant chandelier as the pilot,
- 3 kitchen in window mounts built of country pine with the same cabinetry as the new kitchen, and
- 3 vaulted galley cabinets with white oak highlights as the pilot,
- 3 oval white framed picture hung with wall art as the pilot,
- 3 “C advises” hanging in a corner over the fireplace as the pilot,
- 3 buffet tapered serving “L” as the pilot,
- 3 kitchen storage bench in the new pantry,
- 3 Shaker themed wall light with pendant style light fixture,
- 3 melon ball decorative towel rack hanging in back of cabinet doors,
- 3 kitchen linens hanging on rack in the pantry,
- 3 bright orange 4-piece natural wood theatre flashback,
I have found that painting currently stands out as a huge budget attribute. You can’t paint your cabinets or new furniture if you’re on a tight budget and you wanted to retain the cabinetry and new furniture.
It is hard to update poorly, but it doesn’t work if you can’t afford any alternative.
